According to many readers of Paul’s Case, this is a short story that shows affection, passion, and most of all enthusiasm. Willa Cather seems to base her stories off of daily life and events that she thought progressed in many lives. Her passion for writing showed in her literature giving a visualization on what people think doesn’t occur in the regular life of a person. Also throughout Willa Cather’s short stories she gave examples upon her childhood and her time spent in a small town she grew up in. Giving her the brilliancy and the ambition to become a writer of short stories which included, Paul’s Case. Themes are represented in all short stories in Paul’s Case, Cather shows the readers a young boy being brought up in a hostile environment whose only dream is to one day pursuiting more than what he came from to make his life better. In Paul's Case by Willa Cather, a boy by the name Paul is the protagonist of the story. Paul is a roundcharacter, but not only does Paul show different personalities Paul seems to change his feelings throughout the story in many different situations. In the meeting in the beginning of the story Paul shows a careless attitude towards being entered in school after returning from suspension."His teachers felt this afternoon that his whole attitude was symbolized by his shrug of his shoulders" (Cather 1). Although shows this trait throughout the entire story along with similar actions, this makes him look like a disobedient student and shows his careless attitude towards the situation that he is in. Throughout the story Willa Cather portrays Paul as a different character from the beginning of the story, to the middle until the end. One of the top 100 speeches of all time was said by Bill Clinton, when he was addressing the memorial of the Oklahoma Bombing. This was said In 1995 when tragedy struck the lives of hundreds. Innocent women, men, and children were murdered for no apparent reason, and people needed someone to turn to. This person was Bill Clinton, he responded In ways of composure and emotion that just added to his already powerful speech; he addressed the Issues the correct way. He was given the almost Impossible task to piece the nation back together after this ragged.HIS goal was to mourn with the audience, but not to dwell on It, he wanted to try and help them to move on. HIS use of pathos, logos, and ethos added to the effectiveness of the speech. He began his speech by addressing the ones that were most effected, and then by addressing the rest of the world. He establishes himself and his credibility by not only being the president, but also being a father, a husband, a person. When he says â₠¬Å"Hillary and I also come as parents, as husband and wife, as people who were your neighbors for some of the best years of our lives.This builds his pathos and ethos and allows the audience to connect with him on a more personal, deeper level, knowing that he is just like the rest of them, that they share a common ground. This allows Clinton to talk to them, not above them. Immediately after this he uses the emotions of the audience to his advantage, through the use of pathos. He grieves and mourns with the audience; this is shown when he says â€Å"You have lost too much, but you have not lost everything,† everything being America. Clinton uses a quotation from a widowed mother that only helped the rhetorical sense of the speech.He quotes her by saying, â€Å"The anger you feel is valid, but you must not allow yourselves to be consumed by it. The hurt you feel must not be allowed to turn into hate, but instead into the search for Justice. † These words are powerful a s is, but the fact that they were spoken by someone who has experienced what they are going through cause the words to mean so much more. This helps the audience feel closer to the situation, they may grieve together, but they will also fight together, for Justice. He also fortifies his speech by the use of parallel structure and repetition In order to add to the aspect of persuasion. His use of repetition is seen when he says â€Å"We mourn.. We share†¦ We thank.. We pledge. † The use of we signifies that Clinton, as the president and as a friend will mourn with them. It means that in these times o re than ever we must come together as a nation.He uses repetition and parallel inspirational kind of tone to it, because of this the audience feels the need to stand up to evil and hatred, because good trumps evil any day. Another time we see this is through the â€Å"Who worked† sequence. This plays to the emotion of the audience and puts what has occurred into a reality. Lastly when he talks about planting the tree in honor of the children, this makes the audience believe and understand that he does care. Bill Clinton brought the nation together, and helped them move on when it was thought impossible.

It asks and answers the nation’s most pressing questions about health and health care through studies, their expert consensus committees, and convening a series of forums, roundtables, and standing committees, as well as other activities.These facilitate discussion, discovery, and critical, cross-disciplinary thinking. In 2010, Congress passed and the President signed into law comprehensive health care legislation, collectively referred to as the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which gives the United States an opportunity to transform its health care system to provide higher-quality, safer, more aff ordable, and more accessible care.Recognizing that the nursing profession faces several challenges in fulfilling the promise of a reformed health care system and meeting the nation’s health needs, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the IOM completed a 2 year initiative on the future of nursing. The report contains recommendations for an action-oriented blueprint for the future of nursing, including changes in public and institutional policies at the national, state, and local levels.The passage of the ACA, the IOM report, and its recommendations have an immense impact on nursing education, nursing practice – especially in the primary care setting, and the roles of nurses in leadership. The emergency department in which I work is progressively changing its practice to meet the goals of the IOM report. An improved education system is necessary to ensure that the current and future generations of nurses can deliver safe, quality, patient-centered care across all settings, especially in such areas as primary care and community and public health. Recommendations in the IOM report have a huge impact on nursing education (IOM, 2012).My hospital, which is a Magnet facility, is now mandating that all employed nurses obtain their BSN in nursing by 2018, which is two years earlier than the IOM’s recommendation that 80 percent of registered nurses nationwide have their BSN by 2020. The IOM also recommends that diploma and ADN nurses obtain their BSN earlier in their careers. Studies found that BSN graduates reported significantly higher levels of preparation in evidence-based practice, research skills, a nd assessment of gaps in areas such as teamwork, collaboration, and practice (Kovner et al, 2010).A more educated nursing workforce would be better equipped to meet the demands of hospital settings that continue to grow more complex, and nurses must make critical decisions associated with care for sicker, frailer patients. Higher levels of education for nurses have an impact on nursing practice. Although more men are being drawn to nursing, especially as a second career, the profession needs to continue efforts to recruit men. Their unique perspectives and skills are important to the profession and will help contribute additional diversity to the workforce.To provide more culturally relevant care, the current nursing workforce will need to become more diverse by increasing the diversity of the nursing student body.
